David Copperfield speaks out against allegations of sexual assault
Posted by on August 29, 2009
Two years ago, an aspiring model made claims of sexual assault against world renowned entertainer and magician David Copperfield. As the date of the deadline for the statute of limitations on the claims came around this July, the same woman has filed a federal lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from the multimillionaire performer.
The David Copperfield lawsuit has reawakened the interest in the two year old claims, and has ‘forced’ the entertainer to come out in a fiery statement to ‘set the record straight’. The woman, who cannot be named at this point, claims that she was lured to Copperfield’s private island and assaulted several times, being forced by the famous magician to perform numerous sexual acts against her will. Her claims that she was alone on the island with Copperfield are being labelled ‘preposterous’ by the performer who says in his statement ‘The facts are that there were more than twenty women and men on the island during her visit’.
The Copperfield assault claims will be fought vigorously if the tone of Copperfield August 19 statement is anything to go by. He accuses the woman of having a ‘history of lying’ a fact he says he has many witnesses to back him on. He further claims that the woman is after is his money ‘plain and simple’.
Criminal charged have yet to be laid in the case as the U.S Attorney’s office was still deliberating at the time when the lawsuit was filed.
